Dexa beach
This is a pretty nice beach just outside Vathi, on the way to the north part of the island. It is just 5-minute drive or 30-minute brisk walk from Vathi with no parking except on the road. As with all Ithaca beaches this is a stoney beach with a flat shady picnic area behind and the small islet of Skartsoumponisi opposite. A nice quiet place to have a swim and relax. It is organized so you can hire a bed and umbrella but there is no actual need as there is plenty of natural shade under the olive trees behind. Dexa beach lies in a sheltered bay with calm and shallow water and is very safe for children. It is a rather small beach with a pier in the middle which is a perfect spot for dives into the water. There is a bar there serving drinks and snacks and a lifeguard during peak season.
