A Crystal-Clear Escape near Kefalonia's Picturesque Fiskardo

Emblisi Beach is a true hidden gem, located near the charming village of Fiskardo on the northern tip of Kefalonia. Just across the waters lies the southernmost point of Lefkada, famous for its stunning lighthouse at Cape Lefkatas. Nestled at the end of a small, well-sheltered bay, Emblisi offers an idyllic setting with smooth white pebbles, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush pine and cypress trees lining both sides of the cove.

The seabed is perfect for snorkeling, so be sure to bring your mask and explore the vibrant underwater world. The bay’s calm waters make it safe for children, while the smooth rocks along the edges are ideal for sunbathing in peace and quiet.

Emblisi Beach remains blissfully untouched by mass tourism. Facilities are minimal — aside from a small beach canteen operating during the summer months, there are no amenities. To fully enjoy your visit, it's recommended to bring water, snacks, and anything else you might need for a laid-back beach day. For a full meal, several nearby tavernas offer delicious traditional Kefalonian dishes.

How to Get There

You can reach Emblisi Beach on foot from Fiskardo. The hike is moderately challenging, with some inclines, and takes around 40 minutes. Alternatively, you can drive, ride a motorbike, or take a taxi. The beach is just 1.9 km (about 4 minutes) from Fiskardo, 48.9 km (around 1 hour and 3 minutes) from Argostoli, 50.6 km (1 hour and 5 minutes) from Lixouri, and 20.4 km (30 minutes) from Assos. The road leads close to the beach, and parking is generally available — though it can get busy during peak summer months. If you don't have a vehicle and prefer not to walk, the local KTEL bus service can drop you about 600 meters from the shore.

Nearby Beaches

While you're exploring the area, be sure to visit the nearby beaches of Foki and Dafnoudi, both equally stunning. You can easily combine all three into a perfect day of beach-hopping, soaking in the beauty of Kefalonia’s northeastern coastline. And for a perfect ending, a stroll or a relaxed dinner with a glass of wine in the enchanting village of Fiskardo is highly recommended
