Platia Ammos beach

Platia Ammos is one of the most impressive beaches on the Paliki Peninsula and in all of Kefalonia, located a little after Kipouria Monastery, 12km from Lixouri. Located on a bay surrounded by steep white rocks takes your breath away with its wild beauty and verdant greenery. Platia Ammos is a secluded and virgin beach with crystal clear turquoise blue water. It has many common features with Myrtos beach but it is less known and famous. It is and ideal beach for those who love adventure, isolation and peace.

Until the earthquake of 2014 you could go down to the beach by a staircase of 400 stairs. During heavy rains in 2014, there was a landslide that destroyed most of the stairs resulting in the descent to the beach to be physically impossible. The easiest way to get there nowadays is by boat. It might be very difficult to reach it, but once there you will be rewarded as soon as you dive into its deep blue waters. On the way to the beach do not miss to visit the Monastery of Kipouraion which is one of the most impressive monasteries of Kefalonia.
