Gira (Gyra) beach

Gira or Gyra beach is a long narrow strip of land on the north coast of Lefkada, known for its clean and clear waters. This narrow strip of land seems to delicately balance the sea on both sides, creating a both picturesque and intriguing landscape. Its geographical position makes it an exceptional spot for capturing great photos and enjoying amazing sunsets. The beach is located around 1 km from the floating bridge that connects the island to the mainland Greece, and approximately 3 km from Lefkada Town, making it a short and convenient 25-minute walk from the city center.

The long beach stretches for a few kilometers all the way to Agios Ioannis and Myloi beach. Gyra is a comfortable beach area with a choice of single/double sun beds with umbrellas, but also with large areas of free space. It is very popular among the local population, mainly due to its close proximity to Lefkada Town, as well as a popular spot for local and foreign windsurfers. Despite its popularity and proximity to the town, Gyra beach does not get overcrowded, providing a peaceful and enjoyable environment for those who want to stay near Lefkada Town. Its quiet atmosphere is a contrast to the lively center of the capital and the busier Agios Ioannis beach. It is important to note that pets are not allowed on this beach.  

Parking at Gyra beach is easy, as there is ample parking space alongside the road, making it easy for visitors to access the sandy shores. Parking here is free of charge, which is an extra bonus. Visitors to Gyra beach can engage in a variety of activities such as swimming in the crystalline waters, windsurfing thanks to the favorable conditions, birdwatching in the protected wetland behind the beach, and strolls along the scenic beachfront. Beyond the beach itself and the wetland behind, there are trails to hike, and ancient ruins to explore in the surrounding area.
