Mylos beach

Mylos (mill in english) is an impressive, secluded beach on the west coast of the island of Lefkada It is located between the beaches of Kathisma and Agios Nikitas, right next to the village of Agions Nikitas. It is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. It is a sandy beach with small pebbles, crystal-clear turquoise waters that is surrounded by high rocks. All these create a really stunning scene. The sea deepens sharply and needs attention, especially if you have young children. The beach is named after the old windmill on the top of the rock on the north side of the beach.

There are only two ways on to Mylos beach, by boat and on foot. The path to the beach starts from the pedestrian zone of the village of Agios Nikitas, it climbs steeply above the village to the top of the hill where ruins of the old windmill can be found. After passing the old windmill, the path starts going downwards towards the beach. It's a relatively easy hike that lasts '10-'15 mins. The view from the top of the hill that separates the two beaches is magnificent. The alternative and much easier way, during July and August, is to take a boat or a taxi boat from the seaside village of Agios Nikitas.

Mylos is a large beach, almost 730 meters long and 80 meters wide. It is not organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, therefore it’s necessary to have with you water, some snacks and an umbrella for the hot sun.
