Karave beach
Gavdos isle is located 21 nautical miles south of Sfakia and is one of the last unspoiled heavens of Europe, with beautiful beaches and shocking wild landscapes. Karave is the main harbor of Gavdos, located on its east shore of the island. Just next to the port, Karave bay has round pebbles and heads south to Korfos bay after crossing Agii Pateres beach. It is not organized, but is the only choice for those who want to swim near the port while waiting for the ferry. The water is crystal clear and quite deep. Karave is not very special about swimming, especially if you compare it with the rest beaches of Gavdos. Adjacent to the beach you will see a few houses, a cafe, a tavern and a few rooms to let. There is a bus running from Karave to the settlements and the beaches of the island. Pottery from the late Neolithic period, which belonged to a tomb, has been found south of Karave. The tomb has not been found and is believed to have been destroyed.
