Simos beach
At the southern part of the island of Elafonisos there are two beaches divided by a narrow piece of land. The larger is called Sarakiniko while the smaller is called Fragos. However, everyone calls them Megalos (Large) Simos and Mikros (Small) Simos respectively or simply Simos.
It is a large and magnificent huge beach with incredible colors, emerald sea, and fine sand in white golden color. When it is not windy, you think you are in an endless pool, a beautiful water paradise. Characteristic of the landscape is the fine golden sand and the 10 m high dunes that spreads over the two beaches. It is one of the most spectacular beaches in Greece.
Some parts of the beach are organised with sunbeds and umbrellas. There are bars and food kiosk within walking distance. During the summer period the beach gets very crowded but it is so huge that it seldom, if ever, gets annoying. The beach is 4 km from the settlement of Elafonisos. You can access is by car and during the summer months boat trips are made by the old harbor of Elafonisos (Skala).
