Koumbara beach
This is by far the most cosmopolitan beach on the island of Ios. It is a lovely sandy beach with two bays, both with gorgeous and calm water for swimming. A nice place to snorkel too. Koubara is a relatively small beach, but well worth a visit. It offers a relaxed feel with no loud music blaring and with sun loungers and shade for those who require that, although there is a section of the beach that is umbrella and sunbed free. The beach is located very close to the port and is on the quiet side of the island. If you get at the end of the beach, you will find another beach with thick pebbles. The view from Koubara is spectacular especially at sunset and there are very good restaurants and places to go for a meal either lunch or dinner. You can walk from the port to Koubara in about 30 minutes or you can take the bus which runs every hour.
