Maganari beach
Maganari beach is located at the southern tip of the island of Ios, 20 km away from Chora. It is formed by three large consecutive beaches and many small ones that form coves with golden sand and shallow, turquoise waters. Maganari is very suitable for families with children because of the shallow, warm water. The seabed is beautiful and suitable for snorkeling. It is one of the most popular beaches of Ios and is regarded as one of the most beautiful places to swim in all of the Aegean.
The largest beaches are fitted with many amenities such as umbrellas and sunbeds while the rest are more isolated. In additional, it provides water sports facilities for endless hours of fun. At a short distance there are also some taverns. For those who want to be away from the organized facilities, it is very easy to find quieter sections of the beach. The beach is protected from winds but it is suggested to be avoided on days when north winds blow. Manganari is a great spot to go windsurfing as it can be quite a windy beach.
Scenes from the famous movie "Le Grand Bleu" were shot in the beach. It is very easy to reach it by car, moto, ATV or local transport. There are many buses that leave from Ios Port, Chora and Mylopotas as well as boats from Gialos.
