St George of the Mountain Vigla
A watchtower on the top of a rocky hill above the port of Avlemonas and close to the chapel of Saint George of the mountains.
The shape of the tower is cylindrical with a base diameter 10 meters. The walls remain up to a height of 3 to 5 meters, while the original height must have been more than 12 meters.
The time of construction is unknown. The Venetians were in the island from the 13th century until the 18th century. The tower, most probably, was built at some time around the 16th customers like most of the castles in Kythera.
