Paleopolis Towers

Μετάφραση Greek Version

Three medieval watchtowers overlooking ancient Paleopolis

Next to the archeological site of Paleopolis (the most important of Samothraki and one of the most important in Greece) on a high hill above the sea, there are the three towers of Gateluzzi, a remain of the era that the Genoan family ruled the island.
The Genoans were the lords of Samothraki from 1355 (after a period of Venetian rule since 1204) until 1457 when the Turks conquered the island.
