Moussaka
Cooking Instructions
1. Grease the pan with oil
2. Boil the minced meat along with roasted onion, tomato, garlic, bay leaf, allspice, salt and pepper in a pan ¼ filled with water.
3. Add the main ingredients with the following order: a layer of french fries (cut flat), a layer of fried eggplants and a layer of fried zucchini (the use of zucchini is optional).
4. Spread the minced meat on top and repeat step 3 (without adding a second layer of french fries).
5. After finishing with the béchamel sauce, add the cream.
(Instructions of how to make the béchamel sauce: heat the milk and then add the flour with the potato starch or semolina, the butter and the nutmeg, a little salt and pepper and half of the gouda cheese, and let it boil. When it starts to boil, take it out from the heat and add the remaining half of the gouda cheese along with egg yolks).
6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius for 15 mins using the top/bottom heat or the fan function.
7. Put the pan in the oven and let it bake using the same settings for 45 mins.
TIPS
Spare no expense when it comes to ingredients!
Before frying the aubergines, put them for 15-20 mins in salt water in order to remove the bitterness and then drain them with a colander.
Put the zucchini in a colander with a little salt to remove water so that you can fry them better.
