A Unique Handcrafted Sanctuary in Trachoni Dipotama Forest

Just a short distance from the arched stone bridge of Dipotama, in the Trachoni–Dipotama Forest Complex, stands the beautiful Holy Spirit Chapel. Located about 20 km from the small town of Paranesti, this unusual stone chapel is one of the distinctive sights to discover in the surrounding area.

The chapel is built from river stones, some of which have been carefully engraved with a chisel, while others are decorated with permanent ink drawings. It was built by twin brothers Kostas and Vassilis Ioannidis from Charitomeni in Drama.

The interior is filled with icons of saints, giving the small chapel a distinctive and peaceful atmosphere. One detail that particularly catches visitors' attention is the sign that reads, “Please do not leave money,” an unusual reminder that adds to the chapel's character.
