Vigla of Anafi

With a height of 579m, Vigla is the highest mountain of Anafi. The path is narrow and rough, but it is worth visiting since the view from the top over the entire island and the pelago is very rewarding. Depending on the weather, you can distinguish Astypalaia, Amorgos, Ios, Naxos, Santorini, and the rocky islets of Christiana and Anydros. It is not a matter of chance that the ancient residents of the island had set ‘fryktories’ to make fire signals, with which they telecommunicated since 1000 BC. To reach the path towards the mountain you should follow the road to the helipad. Following, continue towards Brysses until you see the hill in front of you. At this point stop and think about the beginning of the path by viewing the semi-erased trace to the opposite direction, i.e. from the top. After 3km from the beginning of the road route there is a dirt road on the right leading to the chapel of Agia Marina and 200m higher it leads to a crossroad with the chapel of Panagia ton Axinon.
