Agios Athanasios Church of Syros
Agios Athanasios is a real masterpiece, rammed into a hillside, in the most luxuriant in vegetation part of the island. Here, there was a chapel as early as 1631, and perhaps earlier, on the foundations of which a second church had formerly been built and was, then, entirely rebuilt in 1947. This chapel seems very cozy, made of stone and full of flower beds in its yard, while in its interior, it is austerely decorated and the constantly lit candles fight off the humidity.
