Church of Panagia Eftambatousa of Karpathos
Panagia Eftambatousa is located in Agios Nikolaos, the port of Spoon. It is a 5th-century Early Christian Basilica, with a truss and a tiled roof. The tradition says that Panagia Eftambatousa, which owes its name to its seven entrances, was very impressive, the central church of the village. The frequent raids of the pirates forced the residents to move the village on top of the mountain, in the place where it is today. In one of these raids the pirates destroyed the church and stole all the valuable items they had. The inhabitants rebuilt the chapel in close proximity to the remnants of the original temple.
