Mavra Volia

Mavra Volia

Mavra Volia is a secluded beach unique in the world. The characteristic that makes it stand out is its black-white pebbles, the result of a nearby volcanic eruption that had taken place in antiquity.

The beach, also known as Mavros Gialos, is located southwest, around 30 kilometers from the town and next to the village of Emporios. The waters are crystal clear, deep and usually icy, while they get their dark color from the shade color. The beach is divided into two parts, of which the second is also known as Foki. Mavra Viola is located near the (now inactive) volcano of Psaronas, in which it owes its round, shiny, black pebbles.
