The house of Karaiskaki of Ithaki
In an old stone house at the edge of the beach, in Kioni village, is Karaiskaki's home, where the hero of the Greek Revolution of 1821 lived some years before the fight. Karaiskakis returned to Ithaca during the Revolution when he suffered from tuberculosis and the doctors who saw him advised him not to return to war. So he spent some time at his home in Kioni in the early 1822s. The house consists of two floors, it is of stone and refers to the manor houses of that time, while only the outer walls and the openings on the doors and windows are preserved today.
