Edipsos Thermal Springs
Edipsos is the most popular spa town in Greece. The cute little town is situated in Northern Evia and is connected to the mainland by ferry from Arkitsa or by road from Chalkis. The bath facilities are the largest and most modern in the country, including indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpool baths and hydro-massage. The baths have been attracting illustrious visitors for decades. The mineral springs of Edipsos have healing properties and are well-known since the 4th century B.C. They have been mentioned in scripts of Plutarch, Aristotle and Strabon, as the “Herculian Thermae”. According to an ancient Greek myth, goddess Athena asked her brother Hephaestus to create the Edipsos springs so that her favored hero Hercules could rest here after each of his tasks.
The area has more than 60 important springs with various temperatures ranging from 34 to 71.2 degrees Celsius, all rich in valuable minerals and microelements. Thermal waters have been rising through the rocks from a depth of 3000 meters for the last 20000 years. In the several public and private hydrotherapy centers and pools you can find relief from chronic ailments such as articulation-related problems, back and neck aches, rheumatisms, gynecological and circulatory related problems, endocrinological cycle disorders (due to the revitalizing effect of radon), and lastly, beauty and rejuvenation.
In Edipsos you can find dozens of hotels of all prices and categories, many of which are tapped into the thermal spring. However, iIf you want to enjoy the hot springs for free just go to the beach where hot water gushes from the rocks as well as in warm pockets in the sea itself.

The baths are recommended to be taken at temperatures of 28 to 34 Celsius degrees for the following conditions:

Access
Edipsos town can be accessed by a road and sea from various areas of Greece. Frequent bus and boat services to and from Edipsos run daily from various towns of Greece.
- From Athens through the new National Road connecting Athens and Lamia, Arkitsa exit, Fthiotida, 151 km.
- From Arkitsa to Edipsos by ferry-boat (7 n. miles), 45 minutes - From Athens, by car, passing through Chalkida, Evia, 200 km.
- From Thessaloniki through the new National Road connecting Thessaloniki and Athens, Glyfa exit, Fthiotida, 270 km.
- From Glyfa to Agiokampos by ferry-boat (3.5 n. miles) 25 minutes - From Agiokampos to Edipsos, 10 km.
