Map of Thesprotia

Region of Thesprotia

Right next to the holiday hub of Corfu, this part of Greece is the perfect place for relaxing holidays away from the hustle and bustle of more renowned Greek vacation spots. Thesprotia’s main appeal is its 60-km coastline of beautiful beaches and turquoise waters. Away from the small stretches of paradise, Thesprotia also offers a great selection of natural beauties, gorgeous landscapes, charming little towns and villages, clusters of small islets and plenty of archaeological sites of historical importance which are definitely worth the visit. Here you will find ancient theaters and cities to explore, as well as the mythical Acherontas River, known as the ‘gateway to the underworld’ in ancient times, according to the Greek mythology.

The famous resort of Syvota is only half an hour drive from Igoumenitsa, a major center for Adriatic Sea traffic connecting northwestern mainland Greece with the Ionian Islands and Italy. Syvota is built in an idyllic area with verdant hills around a charming bay with plenty of gorgeous beaches. Do not miss to visit the delta of the Kalamas River for birdwatching, the monasteries of Giromeri and Agios Minas to taste the region’s culture, and the charming villages of Paramythia and Perdika. Hike through stunning sceneries, and make a day trip to the historic Souli, symbol of bravery and famous for its role in the Greek liberation. Take a trip to Souli Watermills for a romantic stroll and at the end of the day, or head to one of the many gorgeous beaches to cool off in the blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The charm of the region attracts many visitors most of whom return to it time after time.
