R2 - Chorio - Skiadi - Mavrospilia Beach
Trail 2: This hike is one of the most beautiful and interesting ones you can make on the island of Kimolos. The route takes you first to the famous Skiadi rock, a really remarkable phenomenon of erosion and then to the beach of Mavrospilia. Skiadi is a monolith stone in the shape of a mushroom, a rare geological formation and one of the island's major attractions. To reach Skiadi you will need approximately 1h35 minutes. The path is not so clear at the beginning but later becomes clear without any further difficulties. It offers stunning views before you reach the beaches of Ellinika and Mavrospilia and the way back to Chorio is much easier. This path also starts from the main square at Chorio and there are signs and markings all the way. It goes through olive groves and cultivated areas and gives you the chance to explore the magnificent countryside of the island. To return to Chorio you can move towards Deka beach and take the bus or you can follow the Mavrospilia – Ellinika – Mavrodasos – Seladi – Chorio route, completing this way a circular route.
