Gastouri is located in the eastern part of the island and is 12km away from the city of Corfu. Because of its location and its climate, it was the destination of all the well-off Corfu families, allowing the visitor to admire their imposing magnificent residences. Ornament of the region is the famous Achilleion, the palace of Empress Elizabeth (Sissy). It is one of the sights of Corfu that every visitor of the island has to admire. It is also worth seeing what it is left from the Kaiser Bridge. A stone bridge that links Achilleion with the road leading to Benitses beach.
Due to the existence of Achilleion, Gastouri has created an enormous tourist traffic. You will find there several hotels and rooms to let, many tourist shops, as well as taverns, cafes and bars, some in the settlement and some on the hill slopes overlooking the sea.
