Acherounes beach
Acherounes is a charming seaside village located on the west side of Skyros Island. It sits at the base of a tranquil, enclosed bay approximately 850 meters long, and in front of it lies a beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear, shallow waters. The beach itself stretches 250 meters in length and 25 meters in width, with fine sand covering both the shore and the seabed. This combination of soft sand and shallow waters makes Acherounes Beach an ideal spot for families with children.
The beach is dotted with natural vegetation, including palm trees and tamarisks, providing refreshing shade for visitors. It is well-organized, offering umbrellas, sun loungers, showers, and a ramp for people with reduced mobility.
Several cafés line the beach, while nearby you will find hotels, rental rooms, and traditional taverns where you can savor local cuisine. Acherounes Beach is conveniently located just 8.9 kilometers (about 12 minutes) from Skyros Town and can be easily reached via the paved road leading toward the seaside village of Linaria, which is a mere 1.4 kilometers (3 minutes) away.
Both Acherounes and Linaria are well-served by local bus routes, making travel between them easy and convenient. For a delightful experience, consider taking a relaxing hike from Acherounes Beach to Linaria, especially during sunset when the scenery is particularly stunning.
