Edem beach

This is the closest beach to Athens. It is located in the urban area of Palaio Faliro, to the south of Athens and is very well-organized with all the amenities. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, changing cabins, showers, toilets, lifeguard, playground and an area for sport activities as well. Within walking distance, you can find taverns, restaurants, bars, cafes and all kind of shops. A beach bar with food and drinks is also available and open till late. Due to its easy access and the short distance from the city of Athens, the beach gets busy all year round but mostly in summer. Edem beach can be reached by bus or tram from both Piraeus and Athens in less than half an hour.

The beach itself is sandy with clean and clear water. It shelves gently into the sea and is safe for families with children. There are lots of tamarisk and palm trees for natural shade and a few wicker beach umbrellas are available too. Edem is very convenient for a relaxed day on the beach and can be combined with many different activities in the surrounding area.
