Olympic beach
Olympiaki Akti, or Olympic Beach, is a lovely beach stretching for several kilometers, with nice sand and clear blue water a few kilometers away from Katerini. The rake of the beach is very gentle so you can walk out to sea for quite a way, which is good for children and non-swimmers. It has areas in front of bars with sun lounges and next to them areas with room for towels and umbrellas. There are plenty of restaurants and tavernas to choose from as well as cafes, bakeries, bars and souvenir shops. Here you can find plenty of accommodation options for all budgets and lots of campsites too. The beach has all the facilities including toilets, changing cabins, showers, lifeguard, water sports and has been awarded the European Blue Flag several times. Sunsets are amazing and is a good place to enrich your photo collection. Olympiaki Akti is a very popular beach, therefore gets busty and crowded at the main part but thins out beautifully to the south. It is situated 8 km from Katerini and is very easy to get there by car via the E75 motorway (junctions: Katerini or Korinos) or by bus from Katerini. Olympiaki Akti is close to the archaeological site of Dion and to Mount Olympus as well as to numerous other sites of interest in the wider area.
