Astros beach
A nice beach with usually calm waters in the mornings and windy with waves in the afternoon. The shoreline comprised some small pebbles, gritty sand and some finer sand. The sea is fairly shallow in some parts but shelves more steeply in others. The beach can be very busy near the town but further down there is lots of free space. Astros beach is great for families where parents can enjoy the beachside restaurants and bars while the kids swim and play in the sand. It is about 5 km long and well-organized with all the amenities. Some parts of the beach have umbrellas and beds which are “free” to use provided you buy some food or drink from the beach bars. Other parts of the beach are genuinely free but you have to bring your own umbrella. There is a pretty marina to stroll around and plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. A quaint street of gift shops runs parallel to the beach. It is worth visiting it early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise. Astros beach is a great location to soak in the sun and swim in the clear waters. Also, the town of Paralio Astros would be a good base to stay and explore the area.
