Folk and Historical Museum of Milos

Founded in 1969 by the Athenian Union of Mileans, the Folklore & History Museum of Milos is located behind the church of Panagia Korfiatissa in Plaka. It features exhibits highlighting local folk culture, including wax dolls dressed in traditional costumes, rare embroideries and traditional household items. Here you can learn how life was like on Milos after the 17th century, mainly from 1850 to 1930 and are presented aspects of the everyday life of the inhabitants in that period of time. The two-storey museum is comprised of a living-room with traditional furniture, a work place with a loom, a kitchen, a bedroom and a cellar, used as a storage of rural products.
