A Serene Sandy Beach with Tamarisk Shade on Kimolos Island

Alyki Beach is one of the longest and most popular beaches on Kimolos, located on the island's southern coast near Chorio. Covered with fine pebbles and washed by crystal-clear, shallow waters, it is considered one of the best beaches in Kimolos for families and anyone seeking a peaceful day by the sea.

One of Alyki's greatest advantages is its protection from the strong summer Meltemi winds, which keeps the sea calm throughout most of the season. Although the beach attracts many visitors during the summer months, its generous length means it rarely feels crowded.

Large tamarisk trees line the back of the beach, providing plenty of natural shade for those who prefer not to rent umbrellas. Unlike many beaches on the island, Alyki Beach is not organised with sunbeds or umbrellas, helping preserve its relaxed and unspoiled atmosphere. Two traditional tavernas nearby serve fresh fish and local seafood, while several guesthouses and rooms to let are available for visitors wishing to stay in the area.

Behind the beach lies a small seasonal lagoon, an important wetland that hosts more than 260 species of migratory birds during the winter and spring, making Alyki an attractive destination not only for swimmers but also for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

Alyki Beach is easily accessible by car, scooter or the island's seasonal bus service. The neighbouring Bonatsa Beach is only a short walk away, making it easy to combine both beaches during the same visit.

With its calm waters, natural tamarisk shade, easy access and peaceful surroundings, Alyki Beach is one of the best choices for families and anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing beach day on Kimolos.
