Prassa beach
The main characteristic of Prassa beach, also known as Agios Georgios, is the distinctive chalk-like sand, coming from the chalk rocks. It is these white rocks that give the wonderful shades of blue to the sea water. Prassa is a small, idyllic beach with coarse, white sand and bright blue and sparkling clean waters. One of the most famous and gorgeous beaches on Kimolos.
Due to its location, it is protected from the winds and very rarely has waves. Although organized with loungers to hire there is enough space for those who prefer the natural shade of the tamarisk trees located at the right edge. The waters deepen gradually, making the beach ideal for families with young kids. Snorkeling fans will adore the sea caves under the chapel of Agios Georgios.
In Prassa, there are a few facilities like a beach bar operating during summer season serving cocktails, coffees, snacks and soft drinks. The beach is located on the northeast coast of Kimolos, about 5 km from Chora, the capital of the island and it is a refuge for the Monachus Monachus monk seals. Right opposite the sandy shore, there is the tiny islet of Prasonisi. Prassa is accessible by car and by bus through a dirt road about four kilometers long from Agios Minas. At the end of the road there is a large parking space.
