Antonides beach
Antonides beach is one of the three consecutive beaches of Kanala village, 16 kilometres southwest of Chora. It is a relatively small sandy beach with lots of trees for shade and some benches underneath where you can sit and relax. On the other side of the Kanala peninsula are Megali Ammos and Ammoudaki beach. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and pebbles and has clear blue waters. The bottom of the sea is covered by a stone slab in the first meters but there are easy water entry points to the left and right. We would recommend to avoid the slab because it is very slippery. The descent to the beach is a via a footpath with about 88 steps. Due to the difficult access, Antonides beach is mainly preferred by young people rather than families with children. The path to the beach runs along dry-stone walls and private houses and offers nice view of the beach from above. There are no facilities here such as bars and sun loungers and the only shade is provided by the tamarisk trees. At the western end of the beach there is a bare rock and at the eastern end some private houses and rooms to rent. Overall, Antonides beach is a nice place to spend the day if you are in the area and want to avoid the crowded beach of Megali Ammos.
