Santa Maria beach
Santa Maria is a lovely white sand beach with clear blue water and superb views of Naxos. The golden sand forms small dunes and the seabed slopes gradually. Located in a bay protected by the northern winds has safe and calm waters. Despite the fact that is quite large, gets crowded really fast, so you better go early to find sun beds. If you are looking for fun yet a relaxing beach with great sand and scenery, Santa Maria is the perfect one. However, it is not the place to be unless you are under 30 and like crowds and loud music, though it is possible to find marginally secluded spots away from the crowd. There are beach bars with service at the beach, a restaurant if you want to eat and lots of water activities also.
The beach is located on the northeastern coast of Paros, near the town of Naoussa and 15 km away from the capital of the island, Parikia. Getting to the beach of Santa Maria is very simple. You can drive right up to the beach, park in the parking lot and just walk a few steps to be on fine, soft sand and refreshing blue water. There are busses going from Parikia to Naoussa and then from there to Santa Maria. The bus to and from Naoussa can be quite crowded, so if you have 45 minutes it is actually a pleasant and manageable walk. A little further down the main road, there is a smaller but equally beautiful beach, known as Mikri Santa Maria.
