The beach is located on the east coast of Karpathos, 12 km northwest of the capital of the island, Pigadia. Achatas is in a beautiful and idyllic cove surrounded by mountains with dense vegetation that create a magical landscape making the beach one of the most beautiful in the island. The beach is short in length but wide enough and it combines sand with pebbles and crystal clear, turquoise waters that deepen sharply.
Part of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. There is a tavern on the beach but in the wider area there are no other tourist infrastructure. It's easy to reach the beach through the provincial road that passes through the village of Aperi which is located at a distance of about 5 kilometers from Achatas. Alternatively, there are tourist boats that make daily excursions starting from Pigadia.
