Apella beach
Apella is a beach on the southeast side of Karpathos in a uniquely beautiful pine-covered environment and has twice been voted as the best beach in Europe. Access to the beach is either by sea or via a passable dirt road. The rocks that surround the beach are full of pines that descend to the sea, while water gushes from the springs of the mountain that stands as the protector of this natural treasure. Going down the road to the beach, you will see the church of Agios Loukas carved into the rock. The view from above is impressive.
The road is a bit narrow and steep but it is worth igoing down Arriving at the beach, the visitor faces a unique landscape and a beach with crystal clear, deep blue water. The beach is located in a magical cove with the shore covered with pebbles and white sand. The impressive seabed is suitable for diving, masked exploration and snorkeling.
The beach is quite popular and attracts many visitors during the summer. It is recommended to visit it early in the morning or late in the afternoon. It is located at a distance of about 16 kilometers north of Pigadia and the nearest settlement is Myrtonas which is located at a distance of about 2 kilometers. The visitor can go to the beach by boat from Pigadia.
