Agia Agathi beach

The sandy beach of Agia Agathi is named after the small 14th – 15th century cavernous chapel, situated on the left side of the beach. Agathi is also known as Chrysi Ammos and is indisputably one of the finest beaches at the east coast of Rhodes Island. The beach is nestled in a picturesque bay, right next to the village of Haraki and the medieval Faraklos castle, 40 km south-east of the capital of Rhodes and 17 km north of Lindos. A visit to the beach can ideally be combined with a visit to the castle.

The lovely beach is completely covered with golden sand and has crystal-clear, emerald waters. The sea is shallow for quite a way out, making it very suitable for kids. You can hire sunbeds and parasols but if you don't want to pay, there is plenty of free space for your towel, mainly at the right side. At this side you will also find some interesting underwater rock formations along the coastline, making this also an ideal spot for snorkeling. Along the beach, there are a few canteens, that offer fast food and drinks.

In Agia Agathi beach you are given the opportunity of free camping. Agathi beach is accessible by car, through a rough road and there is parking on the beach. If you visit Agia Agathi beach don't miss to walk to the far end and visit Agia Agathi chapel.
