Koukounaries beach
This is a great beach with lots of sun loungers but also areas where you can put a towel down if you do not want to pay. There are plenty of places to get drinks or food and yes there is some music too. There are good and very clean public toilets, showers and changing facilities and there is also a range of watersports available, including scuba diving. The place is potentially idyllic with crystal clear water, Caribbean like sand and shallow water so perfect for small kids. Lott of fishes to see in the clear water and a nature reserve behind the beach with lots of rare birds during the migration period.
Koukoukanries Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Skiathos, so it is very crowdy especially when day trip boats arrive with crowds of tourists. You’d better avoid the beach on a Sunday as it gets far too busy and you can hardly find any free space or sun bed to rent. The beach is a 30 minutes bus ride from Skiathos Town, and just a short walk from the bus station. The public bus is good and frequent and tickets cost less than €3 euros You can also reach the beach by car, water taxi or boat from the old port. Close by you also have Ambelakia beach, Big Banana beach and Small Banana beach (nudist). Koukounaries is one of the most beautiful beaches on Skiathos, and without doubt, a beach you must visit if you are on the island.
