Glysteri beach
Glysteri is a stunning pebbled beach with crystal clear water, nestled between pine covered cliffs and olive trees. A steep cliff near the top of the peninsula at Glysteri beach is the point where Sophie, Bill, Harry and Sam sang before they jumped from the rocks into the sea, tracks from Our Last Summer, in the Hollywood movie “Mamma Mia”. Also, near Glysteri was the entrance to Donna’s Villa.
The beach is beautiful although stony underfoot when walking into the sea, so take swimming shoes or something similar. Located in a long and curved bay it is less exposed to winds. The beach was previously a ship builders’ yard but now has turned into a fabulous beach with great facilities provided by a beach bar. Palm umbrellas and comfortable lounge chairs are available, drinks and food too. There are loudspeakers all over the place, so if you are looking for a peaceful beach, this is not the right place.
The beach is located 4 kilometers north of Skopelos Town and is easily accessible by car or scooter with amazing views of Skopelos Town from above. You can alternatively walk to the beach from Chora in approximately 1 hour or get a water taxi from the port. Do not miss to visit this stunning cove in Skopelos if you want to have a great beach day.
