Askeli beach
This beach is in a beautiful area and the scenery is stunning. Surrounded by green hills and crystal blue water, it a nice spot to spend the day, swim or sunbathe. The sand is shingly in parts and there are pebbles to cross to access the water, but once in the sea is amazing to swim in. Depending on the period you are going; the water might be cold but definitely worth it, as it is so clear you can see little fish swimming around. It is a family beach where kids race around and play in the water and grandparents loll on the sand. The beach is well organized with changing cabins, toilets and showers and has been awarded several times the Blue Flag for its facilities. There is also a water sport center on the beach which is well worth a visit.
Loads of sunbeds are available, but there is also a free part to lay down your own towel. You can order food and drinks right on the beach, or you can enjoy good Greek food in one of the tavernas located nearby. The Askeli Beach is only 2 kilometers out of the town of Poros, and there is an hourly bus from town that stops at the beach. Due to its close proximity to Poros Town, you can get there on foot in about 20 mins, or you can take a taxi or boat. The beach gets too busy in the peak months and you would have to get there early to grab a sun bed. Askeli is a lovely place to stay with loads of hotels and rooms to rent. There are restaurants and tavernas close by as well as a couple of cafes serving beverages, cold drinks and snacks. Well worth a visit, but if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place during July and August, you’d better choose another beach.
