Archaeological Museum of Pylos

The Archaeological Museum of Pylos hosts significant findings from the area of Pylia, from the Neolithic period to Roman times. The museum’s collection includes vessels, jewelry, arrowheads, relief images and votive gifts found in Mycenean vaulted tombs. Among them stand out the findings that were discovered in a tholos tomb in Koukounara at Paleochoria, which include a seal, golden bands, a burial jar and two necklaces, also a large astragalus from the Hellenistic tomb of Tragana, as well as a plethora of burial offerings, vessels and copper utensils.  Additionally, finds from Nisakouli in Methoni, Vlachopoulo, Tourlitida, Soulinati and Korifasio are also in display. The museum is housed in the recently renovated building situated in the archaeological site of Niokastro Fortress.
