Litheos River Central Bridge Trikala
This is the main pedestrian bridge of the Litheos River, a tributary of the Pinios River, which runs throughout the city of Trikala. It is an architectural jewel, constructed in 1886 by French engineers and connects the old with the new city. The bridge is the most emblematic of all the bridges of Litheos within the city and therefore, has been listed a historical monument since 1996. Till that time, it was a busy bridge crossed mainly by cars but since 1996 has turned into a pedestrian bridge, and a meeting point for the locals.
This bridge is a very nice spot to get a “locals experience" and to enjoy the view of the river. It is very beautiful no matter what time of year and worth a visit. The opposite bridge bears a statue of Asclepius and a little waterfall in front. The waterfall creates a splendid spectacle, especially at night, when the lighting system along the banks of Litheos river is on.
