The procession of the Epitaph in Zakynthos, according to an old custom, does not take place on the night of Good Friday, but in the early morning hours of Holy Saturday, specifically at 02:00 in the morning.
At around 04:00 in the morning, the Epitaph will be taken out of the Metropolitan Church of Agios Nikolaos of Xenon, with the Philharmonic playing "Ina ti?" and returns around 5.30 to the temple, where the Sequence continues. The epitaph is not decorated with flowers but is lined with red velvet and gold leaf bearing the wooden lamb. During the first Resurrection, the custom of "Gloria" or "kommatiou" is performed, the breaking of clay pitchers, vases and objects by the housewives of all the houses.
It is the only Epitaph in all of Greece that is lit at dawn on Holy Saturday.
