Nisyros Events

On the 8th of September each year, the Birth of the Virgin is celebrated in the village of Emporios.

On the celebration day of Agios Nikitas, patron saint of the island, celebrations take place in Mandraki and procession of the icon in the streets of the village.

The festival in honor of the Saints Apostles, takes place every June 30th in the village of Pali.

Every 26-27th of July there is a festival held at Avlaki, in honor of Agios (Saint) Panteleimonas. 

Every 14-15th of August, a festival is organized by the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kyra.

The feast is organized in honor of Panagia Spiliani, one of the most famous monasteries of the Dodecanese. The Monastery celebrates on August 15, day on which crowds of pilgrims visit the island from all over the Dodecanese to pay tribute to the miraculous icon. The ships, before mooring in the port, pass under the monastery whistling to receive the blessing of the Virgin Mary and in return the bells of the monastery ring. That day big festival is organized in honor of the Virgin Mary with food, traditional songs and dances in the village's central square.

Every 22nd -23rd of August a festival is held by the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kyra to celebrate the nine days since the Assumption of Virgin Mary.

Α festival is organized each year on September 13th, in the Monastery of Timios Stavros, near the village of Nikia.

A feast in honor of Agios Ioannis the Theologian, is organized in the Monastery of Agios Ioannis in Nikia, Nisyros every year on September 25th.

Every 7th-8th of November, a festival is held in the village of Emporio, in honot of Archangel Michael.

Every year on the celebration day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on November 21st, a feast is organized at the village of Nikia, Nisyros.
