By Boat
By Ferry: The only way to get to Samothraki is by ferry from the port of Alexandropoli on the mainland. That is northern Greece close to Turkish borders. The ferry ride is about 2 hours and takes you to the port of Kamariotissa. Ferries run daily all year round.
By Plane: Samothraki does not have an airport. The closest airport to Samothraki is Alexandoupoli, from where you can take the ferry to Samothraki. The airport in Alexandroupoli serves only domestic flights, so if you are travelling from anywhere in Europe the most convenient way is to fly to Athens and then take a flight to Alexandroupoli. An alternative would be to fly to Thessaloniki or Kavala and then rent a car or take a bus from there. There are regular bus services between these two cities and Alexandroupoli. The distance from Thessaloniki is 300 km and the trip takes around 4,5 hours. The distance from Kavala is 150 km and the trip takes approximately 2,4 hours.
