From Patras and Astakos

Ithaca has three ports: Pisaetos, Vathy and Frikes with the port of Pisaetos being the main port of the island. Through this port Ithaca is connected with the neighboring islands of Kefalonia and Lefkada as well as with the ports of Patras and Astakos on mainland Greece. Ferries from Patras to Ithaca are usually in operation during the summer and the journey lasts around 4 hours. The sea crossing between Ithaca and Astakos is operated throughout the year. The trip duration from Astakos to Ithaca lasts between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on whether the ship approaches the port of Sami in Kefalonia or not. Ferries on this route can transport both foot passengers and vehicles. The port of Astakos can be reached via the Antirrio-Ioannina highway.

Connection with other islands

Ithaca is also connected to the neighboring islands of Kefalonia and Lefkada. Ferries from Kefalonia depart from the port of Sami up to 3 times per day during the summer months. The trip duration is 20-30 minutes. Ferries from Lefkada depart from the port of Vasiliki. In peak season there are additional ferry crossings from Fiskardo in Kefalonia and Nydri in Lefkada. Sea taxis are an alternative way to travel to Ithaca. They are much faster and offer a 24-hour service.
