Kastoras Gorge

Kastori is a beautiful mountain village on the slopes of mount Taygetos, surrounded by lush vegetation, gorges and rivers. Its location makes it an ideal destination for relaxation, hiking, canyoning and mountain biking. There, you can find the impressive gorge of Kastoras hidden in a landscape of incredible natural beauty. Among its main attractions are the crystal-clear springs of Saint Mamas, old watermills and Marmarogefyro, an old arched bridge.

Crossing the Kastoras gorge is very easy. The hiking route is almost flat and follows the course of the river in an idyllic landscape, overgrown with plane and chestnut trees. It crosses small makeshift wooden bridges and passes next to old watermills. The trail is well marked and suitable for those who wish to spend a beautiful day in nature. At some point there are stone seats where you can sit and relax. From that point, a short path starts that takes you to the hermitage of Luke, a small church in a cave that celebrates on the 23rd of August. The walk won't take more than 10 minutes. The main path ends up at the old arched bridge of Kastoras, the so-called Marmarogefyro (Marble Bridge), which is very close to the village.
