Banana beach
A very pretty beach, reached by catching the local bus to stop 26 (last one) and walking up a hill and down the other side. Mikri (Small) banana beach is for naturists, the Megali (Big) banana beach has been commercialized and is almost completely covered in large luxurious sun beds. Some of the sun beds are reserved for the hotel guests and others are rented out at a high fee. Of course, the beach and sea are still beautiful but despite public access still being available you will hardly find a square foot of it where you can put your towel and parasol and have a lay down. But you can happily find a place under the pines in the shadow. The beach of Mikri Banana is divided from the largest by some rocks and unlike the other is much quieter and is the only official nudist beach on the island of Skiathos. The beach of Small Banana has the same characteristics as Big Banana, of sand and clear water, but the scenery that appears before your eyes is decidedly wilder.
The beach itself is beautiful with fine sand, crystal clear water and no rocks as you walk in the sea. Water shelves very gradually so it is pleasant to swim there and there is plenty of fish to see. If you in the mood of renting a canoe or more water sports instead of just chilling on the comfortable sunbeds, there is a water sports place right next to it. Amazing crystal-clear water, good music, majestic view with the pine trees almost touching the water, make this beach very popular. Banana beach is located on the west coast of Skiathos, close to Koukounaries beach. There is a parking available at the bus stop area and from there you can walk the path, past the apartments down to the beach. It will take around 8-10 minutes.
