Discover Gialova’s Tranquil Waters and Scenic Views

Divari (Golden beach) is a superb sandy beach on the perimeter of Navarino Bay with shallow and calm water, sloping gently into the sea, so safe for young children. It faces Sfakteria island, and at this part of the beach the water is so shallow people can reach the island by walking and just a bit of swimming in deeper sections. The beach is extremely long, so there are lots of places to pull up and find a quiet spot. Even, if you want to be on your own there is more than a mile of empty beach. The views across to Pylos and into the bay of Navarino are great and there's always some boating activity to watch. If you cross the bushes covering the dunes at the back of the beach, you can head to the lagoon of Gialova, where you can admire the breathtaking scenery of the most important wetland in southern Greece, which has rare migratory birds and other rare species. If you are lucky enough, you may see pink flamingos.

Divari beach is a brilliant place for snorkeling as there is loads of marine life on it. The good snorkeling is at the far end of the beach, where the two pieces of land nearly meet. You can even find an old ship wreck right at the last beach bar but be careful its metal is so rusty and sharp. It is in shallow water and been there years. There is no shade at the beach so make sure you take an umbrella, and also water and some snacks. There is a cafe but it is a lot further down the beach. Reaching the beach is easy and you can park anywhere down the road. Divari beach lies in a protected area due to the caretta-caretta turtles that come ashore to spawn, so before leaving, please take all the litter with you.
