Karathonas beach
Katharonas is a beautiful, long crescent shaped and sandy beach a short drive from Nafplio. It offers wonderful views across the gulf and has crystal-clear calm waters with shallow depth for a long way out, suitable for small children or those that like to lounge in the shallows. The beachfront is well organized, with sunshades and beds close to the beach bars. As long as you are buying food/drink then the sun loungers are free at most of the bars. It is a very popular beach area with a good choice of bars and restaurants. There are trees for shade, lifeguard stands and a watersport section as well. It is a family oriented beach, however, it can be noisy at night with loud music and many young people party.
This is an easily accessible beach if you have a car with plenty of parking behind it. You can also walk to the beach along a lovely cliff side path, from the town of Nafplio which is highly recommended. It is a flat, easy 30-minute walk, and beautiful to see the sea and the pretty island in the middle of the bay, all the way around to your destination. Try to get there early since it does get crowded in the afternoon.
