Karydi beach
This is a fantastic beach with white sand, gorgeous, crystal-clear blue water over a perfect sandy bottom and some nice rocks to explore on the headland. Nature here is fascinating and the landscape grabs you from first sight. Located on the south end of Vourvourou village, it is one of Halkidiki’s most photogenic beaches. Karydi beach is a photographer’s delight. The rocks and forest make for some really great photos, some of which are often found in websites and magazines to lure travelers to Sithonia’s fantastic beaches.
The beach itself is not very long (in reality it is a big bay hence the warm sea) but you will definitely enjoy. It is less than 2 meters deep for a long distance, perfect for families with children and non-swimmers. You need to wade out quite far to actually swim. Due to its position, it is protected from the wind and so the sea is most of the time calm and warm. Besides the main beach, there are some coves or you can set up on the rocks, which is great. Snorkeling around the rocks is amazing. At the back, there is a pine forest which adds to the overall setting. You will need to have a "beach umbrella" (parasol) with you so that can be protected from the sun even though if you go quite early you will be able to get a nice spot under the trees. Although it is not organized there is a couple of food trucks selling small snacks and drinks.
Karydi has its own "cons" though. Being very famous it is usually too crowded during summer peaks. So, try to get there by 9am not have trouble finding parking. Karydi Beach is accessible by car or by boat.
