Glyfada (Valtaki) beach
Valtaki is a wonderful, sandy beach around 6km north of Gythion. It is often confused with Stelinitsa beach which is right next to it, but it is easy to distinguish the two beaches since Valtaki has something unique. This is a wreck of an old ship named "Demetrios", that has been at the edge of the beach since 1981 and is the main attraction. Valtaki is a relatively long but narrow beach with crystal-clear waters. Apart a beach bar and a few sun loungers, there aren’t any other amenities on the beach. Access is very easy and there is free parking space. If you find yourself in the area, it is more than worthwhile to visit this place, not only to swim into the clear and refreshing waters but also to admire the legendary shipwreck and take some great photos.
