Monastery of Agios Dimitrios of Skyros
A small church dating back to the late 16th century, although there is no evidence that can prove it. According to the inscription on the churches’ door, it was completed by Nikolaos on the 10th of October 1611 and the outer wall of the monastery was built with the help of priest Kiros. So if the wall was built in 1611, the main body of the church must have been built earlier, maybe in the late 16th century. As Michael Deffner asserts, there was an inscription above the church door, where it was written that the church was decorated by the painter Damaskinos and the priest Dimitrios. These two icon painters came from the monastery of Megisti Lavra. They were sent on the island by priest Timotheos, who was from Skyros.
